When Evil Reigns in the Hearts of Humanity
Ecclesiastes 3:16-17 “I saw something else under the sun: instead of justice there was evil; instead of righteousness there was wickedness. So, I said ⌊to myself “God will surely judge the righteous and the wicked, for he has appointed a time of judgment for every deed and every work.“
The concept of evil generally describes behavior or attitudes characterized by extreme wickedness and intent to cause social, physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual harm. The concept encompasses moral, ethical, behavioral, and spiritual dimensions.
Things we accept today tests our resolve and beliefs. We have been living with a pandemic for twenty months as of the writing of this post. People are becoming hostile, depressed, distant, anti-social, angry, and rude toward others, especially those who do not follow mandated guidelines. Many are fearful of becoming ill with the current contagion and resort to following whatever the government states. You know the government should not be involved with making medical decisions that are the sole responsibility of everyone. Even media giants make startling claims to get its readers and watchers to kowtow to whatever the government is selling. The media also reports on contrasting points of view concerning vaccines, and other treatments for countering the current contagion. Governments are to the point of demanding people get vaccinated if they want to or not, and even threatening people who refuse. I just want you to know that all of this is normal when evil reigns.
As followers of Jesus Christ how should we respond? I start of by saying what a follower of Jesus should not do; place trust in anyone, or any institution besides Jesus Christ. Here is a satisfactory answer on how we Christians should be during tribulations (times of testing): Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.” And what should be cling to? Romans 8:35 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?”
What about Romans 13:1 where Paul says: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” How can we handle this statement when a government is criminal toward its citizens? First off it is necessary to understand what Paul is indicating: If the established authorities are being just, they follow what God established, and if they do not, we are not to obey.
There is something terrible coming to America because the leaders have departed from God and His established authorities deserted what is right for what is wrong. America do not be deceived: God is will not be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. (Galatians 6:7)
Bottom line is during times of distress, tribulation, we do nothing different. We act the same way we have before tribulations, trials, tests, and afflictions. God does not change, and if we are true followers of Jesus Christ, neither should we.
