Proverb 3:7 — “Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! Run from evil!” (MSG)
I am certain that anyone going to seminary or those who have studied the Scriptures as a layman for many years, or anyone who teaches world religions, Sunday school or one who researches never thinks they know everything–right?
Thing is that some people are so entrapped with their own ideas and understanding of things that they exhibit an arrogance which borders of narcissism. There is no debate or agreeing to disagree with people who believe they have all the answers, and what really makes it even worse is when these people believe they hear directly from God himself daily. People who are self-centered and will not accommodate other insights are suffering from a Delusional disorder that is characterized by irrational or intense belief(s) or suspicion(s) which a person believes to be true. Unfortunately, this is the state of our cavillation today. Observe how people are attacked over beliefs that differ from their own. Observe how people are unwilling to debate or acknowledge there are different approaches to understanding.
Of course, in the Christian world there is no such thing as knowing it all or understanding it all–is there? Of course, there are so many different assemblies with their own unique doctrines that neither of them is willing to accommodate any other ideas that would weaken their own doctrinal understanding. In fact, if you look close enough at each of these differing doctrines you will soon discover that each has their own version of Jesus Christ, and in most cases, that version of Christ cannot be attested to historically. Does this mean they are not Christain? YES and NO. They are Christain in name only because they acknowledge the existence of God and God’s son Jesus Christ. On the other hand, they disavow Christ by not running to God for calefaction, they run for their books, lectures, teachers, and friends for that clarification. Some even acknowledge they no better than God by permitting the very things God condemned or forbid. Some even disregard the warnings of the Apostles by accepting abhorrent behavior within their assemblies, as such, they no longer run from evil but toward it. They are NOT followers of Christ Jesus.
I will end this article with the Apostle Paul’s own warning from 1 Corinthians 1: 9-10:
“God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 But I urge and entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in perfect harmony and full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions or factions or divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your mutual understanding and in your opinions and judgments.” (AMP)
