The Triumphant Messiah (Acts 4:23–31)
Original Psalm Two KNV: “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
Prayer based on Psalm two:
Worship before prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.For thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory forever, amen.”
Prayer: Oh Lord, as the end of the age draws near let each of your elect trust in you all the more. Your elect know Lord that you will make straight their path to carry forth your will and to show the world that you are the Christ. Your gospel will reach every place on earth, no one will be left without hearing your testimony, no one will have an excuse when you return. Until then Lord, your elect should understand how the rulers of this earth will go against everything you have established since you created humankind. Your enemy will be relentless in his pursuit to corrupt the minds of your elect with all sorts of treachery and deception. Your enemy knows that time is short, and knowing that you elect will be under intense pressure and persecution from your enemy. Lord, the elect should know that you will protect them as you did the Hebrews during their time in Egypt when the angle of death fell upon the land. You had them place blood on their door stoop so the angles would pass them by Lord, and today, we are covered by the blood of the lamb, Jesus and I pray that when the angel of death returns it will pass us by like it did during the call to let your people go. I pray Lord that you will come quickly and put your foot upon those who have sided with the enemy. Come Lord Jesus. Come quickly!
Each of King Davids Psalms our not only for his time on this earth; these Psalms should be for us today in our spiritual battles and our every day walk with the Lord Christ Jesus. What David experienced we can expect to experience. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us “there is nothing new under the sun” and knowing that, we should expect the enemy to attack us in ways that cause us to question our faith i the Lord Christ. The enemy will throw all sorts of distractions at us, and as the end of this age draws nearer we can expect that even physical attacks will increase against us because of our belief in Jesus.
