The Two Paths
Original Psalm One KJV: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
Prayer based on Psalm One:
Worship before prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.For thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory forever, amen.”
Prayer: I am blessed that I am not seeking wisdom from those outside the congregation, nor travel along with those who do not believe, or surround myself with those who scoff at your holy WORD. I am in awe of your grace Lord, and the sacrifice you made for me, and your love for me. I will meditate day and night on all your have done for me. Father, you are a wellspring that nourishes me and sustains me through the seasons. Good or bad Father, you are there, and no matter what the challenge I will be steadfast in the faith and seek your face because your grace Father is sufficient for me. All those who do not believe and scoff at your children are nothing more than a ship without a rudder. Those who do not believe in you Lord will not stand the judgment, and all those sinners in our congregation shall not remain unless they accept you Lord Jesus. For you know the hearts and minds of all, you know who are yours Lord, and we know that those who refuse you are not yours and shall perish.
There are two paths during King David’s day as there are in our day. One path is the path of the believer in Jesus and the other is the path of those who refuse to believe. The outcome for both is told us through the Bible. One will be with the Lord for all eternity, the other will never exist again.
I hope this prayer is one you can adopt for your self when you have doubts, or when who are being torn between ideologies and cultural norms.
Each of King Davids Psalms our not only for his time on this earth; these Psalms should be for us today in our spiritual battles and our every day walk with the Lord Christ Jesus. What David experienced we can expect to experience. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us there is “nothing new under the sun” and knowing that, we should expect the enemy to attack us in ways that cause us to question our faith i the Lord Christ. The enemy will throw all sorts of distractions at us, and as the end of this age draws nearer we can expect that even physical attacks will increase against us because of our belief in Jesus.
