Some History

To keep it concise, this is the shortened rendition of the journal’s history.

Previously known by various names, the current iteration of the Christians Underground Journal has undergone a series of transformations, including fifteen years of being offline. Given that I am currently the sole writer, I have changed the journal’s tagline to reflect better my personality and what this journal was initially called: Unconventional Thoughts.

Starting in the late 1980s, the journal, initially called “Unconventional Thoughts,” came into existence through a dial-up bulletin board service. I started my broadcasting journey through the Christian Distribution Network in the late eighties and early nineties, specifically when using the bulletin board service. This network operated over the FIDO backbone, and my broadcasts were targeted explicitly towards missionaries across the globe. In 1993, with the rise of internet accessibility for the public, the content transitioned from being hosted on bulletin board services to being provided through internet-based platforms.

The site’s previous title, UNDERGROUND, was chosen to symbolize the resistance against false teachers, false doctrine, false religious orders, individuals posing as Christians, and those who distort the essence of the gospel. The term “underground” can also describe those followers of Jesus who face persecution and are forced to practice their faith in secret because of particular governments and religious orders who perceive Christianity as a threat. The threat to the unsaved and the fallen does not lie in Christianity itself but in Jesus Christ, who becomes their stumbling block and the primary target of their hatred. In addition, the term “underground” can also describe devoted followers of Christ who are present in every church gathering yet choose to remain in the background, fulfilling the roles of observers and educators.
