Getting Rid of God

What prompted this article was The New York Times op-ed Friday April 15, 2022, that proposes eliminating belief in God.

Start with a quote by Paul Harvey from 1964:

“If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the entire world in darkness. And I’d have a third of its real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — Thee. So, I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first — I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.

To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth.’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square.’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…

And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the devil, I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings, I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions — just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography — soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil, I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the devil, I’d take from those who have and give to those who want until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.

And what do you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would caution against extremes and hard work in Patriotism, in moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun, that what you see on the TV is the way to be. And thus, I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were the devil, I’d just keep right on doing what he’s doing.”

Now align this with 2 Timothy 3:1-9 (NIV) where Paul writes to Timothy warning him about what it will look like at end of the age:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Pharaoh’s sorcerers, Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Does any of the above sound familiar in today’s culture? I’m talking about the year 2022 and not 1964.

Then we look at Psalm two:

“Why do the nations conspire, and the people’s plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the ruler’s band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry, and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

Here is news about Christian persecution around the world. If anyone thinks this will not happen in America, you had better get ready for it. Christian persecution is coming on its way here, and in some form and fashion persecution has already begun.

Now back to ending belief in God: There are countries that try extremely hard to remove God from public discourse and their citizens conscience. However, there is no way to remove God from the heart of individuals. No matter how hard some of these people try to destroy God among their peoples, belief in God grows even more robust; goes for persecution as well: Where there is extrema persecution of followers of Jesus the believes numbers begin to explode. The devil and all his machinations to dethrone God will never bear fruit; the devil (Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub) etcetera, is an already defeated foe and knows his eternal end is near; so, there is this push to try and get people to forget God and only worship his ill begotten agenda by distracting people, and blaming God for all humanities woes while they promoting science, globalism partnerships, currencies, economic systems as the better path which does bring much heartache to humanity. Atheists claim they do not believe in God or a higher power, but in do so, they unknowingly admit they do believe in God. You see, you cannot claim to disbelieve in something unless it exists, and the existence is not made up by men, or in the minds of men, it simply is! Well, bottom line is good luck getting rid of God because if that were happen, all things, and I mean ALL THINGS, would cease to exist.

What we are beginning to witness in the prophetic timeline and a falling away from the faith by people who were never truly followers of Christ Jesus to begin with. The agnostic (fence sitters) has no place in the kingdom because you cannot have one foot in maybe and the other in unbelief.

The Man of Lawlessness

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 (NIV)–Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”

No matter how hard world leaders attempt to eradicate God from the public square they will not succeed, and in the end, their eternal death is assured. There will not be a vacation at the lake of fire, you will not be checking in at the grand hotel “The Bottomless Pit,” you will be eternally ended. As this remove God movement spreads which is prophesied to take place, persecution will come, and come to all nations and all peoples. So, if your e known scape plan, known as the extra biblical doctrine the rapture does not happen, you will be required to endure until the end.
