A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.
Original Psalm Three KJV “LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people.”
Prayer based on Psalm three:
Worship before prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.For thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory forever, amen.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, how troubling wickedness has increased around me and how there is an increase in attacks against your teachers, prophets, congregations and places of learning. Lord Jesus shield your elect, you are our glory Lord Jesus who strengthens me and uplifts me. Lord Jesus hear my prayer, hear out cry to you for protection and to increase our love for others. There is no fear for us who have been under your protection, even if a horde attacks us you will strengthen us and save us from those who stand against you. Lord, let us, your elect grasp that any attack against us is an attack against you. We know you will not withhold your blessing upon us Lord, we know you will save all those who are yours. Amen and Amen!
Each of King Davids Psalms our not only for his time on this earth; these Psalms should be for us today in our spiritual battles and our every day walk with the Lord Christ Jesus. What David experienced we can expect to experience. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us there is “nothing new under the sun” and knowing that, we should expect the enemy to attack us in ways that cause us to question our faith i the Lord Christ. The enemy will throw all sorts of distractions at us, and as the end of this age draws nearer we can expect that even physical attacks will increase against us because of our belief in Jesus.
