Christian family, listen, the political difficulties in the world today are nothing new. The same shenanigans have plagued humankind since the first ordered society. It is the case of a fallen world. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then all this turmoil, dislike, hate, is nothing but the emotional outbursts of our sinful nature–if we allow it. As believers and followers of Jesus, our concern is with His kingdom, which we are ambassadors of, and His representatives to lost people. We should never allow Satan and his Serpent friend to cause division in the family because of politics that we should not be tossed into debate that takes our focus off Jesus and the mission He has given all us who believe to spread the gospel and the love, compassion, mercy, and grace that He bestowed on us who beleive. I once authored an article titled “Two Seeds.” The seeds are offspring, and the first time it is mentioned can be found in Genesis 3:15, where we see the seed (offspring) of Eve would crush the head of the offspring of the serpent, and the offspring of the serpent would bruise the heel of Eve’s offspring that would one day be (Jesus). There are two offspring: The offspring of light, those who believe, and the offspring of darkness, those who are against Jesus, or who desire to be instead of Him.
Therefore, hate is not of the light; it is of the darkness. We should not allow these wicked spirits to cause trouble within the family. Our struggle is not against one another, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12). Remember this: Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. (Romans 13:1). If we hate someone in a position of authority, we disregard what Paul is warning about. If we go against what God has placed in authority, we fight against God. This verse does not mean priests, preachers, or believers, because they are ministers of the Lord. Paul is talking about civil authority. Be at peace knowing God will accomplish his will on earth as in heaven. Remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 15-18: “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.” We cannot be double-minded and embrace the darkness one day and the light the next. We must be on the side of the Lord, or we are not. Let go of hate, gossip, indifference, biases, and prejudices, and embrace the hope in Jesus, not the world.
Pray for our leaders to bend their knees and acknowledge that in the Most High God We Trust.
