Believers and followers of Christ Jesus here is something to ponder:
Like John the Baptist, we must decrease so Christ increases in and around us.
We must accept Jesus’s words in Matthew 16:24-25. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” We are given a wonderful life as John 10:10 Jesus tells us: “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” In 2 Peter 1:3, we see we can live much differently than those who do not believe. Peter wrote: “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need to live a godly life. We have received all this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself utilizing his marvelous glory and excellence.”
How can we resist the allure of a non-believer’s lifestyle and its various temptations to make room for Christ’s presence to grow within us? I am not suggesting that we cannot appreciate life and the conveniences of modern technology. We must be diligent about ensuring that our lives are not consumed by worldly pursuits but centered on Christ and the Kingdom of the most high God.
