Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT). This is what the LORD says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken!”
Today the Lord is speaking through Jeremiah. There are so many lures around today to pull us away from focusing on Christ that causes me to ask just how many people who claim to be Christian are Christian. How many times do we hear the boast of their giant ministry, how wealthy their ministry has become, and how rich their life is all because of Jesus. You know, they are not telling you the truth about their ministry or their personal riches. In fact, they use Jesus as a means to build massive ministries and personal wealth claiming that is ok because Jesus has given us an abundant life. Then there are people who do not have massive ministries, mega churches, or even a huge home filled with all a person could imagine. No, they are normal, everyday people who claim to be Christian but seem to live a double life. What I mean by that is, they live a worldly life six days a week and a somewhat biblical life for a short time on Sunday. Some even teach just to be recognized as someone gifted by God. Very few today demonstrates an unfailing love that the Lord delights in. No, they are captivated with flashy things that make them look and look important, and gifted by God.
We live in days of great deception where what is use to be right is now wrong, and what use to be wrong is now right. Families are under attack. Children are being deceived and enslaved by people who are servants of Satan. Today, very few people what to hear the Lord speak. People today only look at what makes them feel good today. They look at how wealthy they can become. They refuse to help others, and stand on the side line watching people being hurt by demented and possessed individuals.
Is there hope for us? Is there hope for America? Personally, I would like to think that there is hope for us and our country. Unfortunately, that is not going to be the outcome. America is lost and under judgment, and I can only see one possible result for a country that has turned its back on God. Its death.
My final words are this: Luke 21:36 (ESV); But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.
Shalom
